Stressed for college? Look no further because I have the answer…. Scholarships!
If you want to know how they changed my life (and how they can change yours too) keep reading.
As a triplet, there was no way that I could afford to attend college on my own accord. Financial aid helped but it did not cover absolutely everything. Hidden fees are real guys!
Scholarships are a guaranteed way to save money and ensure that you can cover your college costs (without stressing out your parents).
The Steps for Scholarships:
The first thing you want to do when applying to scholarships is find them. Now a lot of people fall for scams so make sure that your websites are legit.
I’ve listed some of my favorite websites to find them below. Of course these sites aren’t all that’s out there. We’ll get to that later.
Online Scholarships for College Students
Dollars For Scholars, Unigo, Fastweb, Niche, Scholarship America, Bold.org, Going Merry
Alright, so a lot of these websites require you to make an account to start. You want to do this so you can log in and keep track of the how many you have applied to.
After you make an account, you want to fill out some profile information such as your education and what state you live in. This will help the website suggest some that you qualify for.
There will be some no essay scholarships on these sites, which you can apply for. However, these scholarships are like a sweepstakes so there is a very low chance of you winning.
The same goes for very large ones. Of course it is great to apply to these! Just know you will have more competition.
I always applied for scholarships with a lower reward and I won a lot of them! Sometimes you will be one of the few or only person to apply for them!!
This is because people think that they aren’t worth the time of applying because of the lower reward. Don’t be like those people.
Most of the time the “essay” that smaller scholarships require are only 250-600 words!! You can knock that out in thirty minutes, trust me.
You can apply to 10 small scholarships with the amount of effort it takes to apply to the larger ones.
This isn’t to say don’t apply to larger scholarships. You just have a better chance at winning the smaller ones.
Let’s roll in the dough people!!!

In-Person Scholarships for College Students
Alright so once you have scoured the internet it’s time to use your social skills. You need to ask around for local scholarships.
So many local businesses have scholarships that barely get any traction. You can even potentially win one from your parent/guardians workplace!
I won a scholarship from a local Ford dealership and my high school counselor.
So don’t be afraid to ask around! Sometimes you’ll find a scholarship that no one has applied to!
You can even ask your boss at your part time job if they give out scholarships. Jack in the box even has a scholarship.
There’s no excuse for not applying.
Alright, so once you have found them, the hard part is over. Now you just need to right some paragraphs and essays.
Most organizations use similar questions and some even allow to resubmit an essay you have previously used somewhere else.
How easy is that? All you have to do is start writing and BOOM you have 10 scholarships you can apply to.
I promise it is so easy and so incredibly worth it to not have debt after college.
Now go and win some money for college!!!
